Patrick W. O’Neill, OD, FAAO
Dr. O’Neill started his private practice in Northfield in 1983. He joined the Allina Medical Group in 1992, and in 2004, started River Valley Vision Centers, which became River Valley Eye Professionals in 2012. Dr. O’Neill received his degree from the Michigan College of Optometry and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry (FAAO). His clinical specialty is ocular disease, including glaucoma. He is past president of the Minnesota Optometric Association and the North Central States Optometric Council as well as the Northfield Rotary Club. He is an instructor in self-defense and holds a black belt in Taekwondo. Dr. O’Neill enjoys skiing and sailing.
Nathan P. Heilman, OD
Dr. Heilman received his degree from Pacific University College of Optometry in Forest Grove, Oregon. While he enjoys all facets of eye care, Dr. Heilman is particularly interested in the management of eye diseases like dry eye and glaucoma. In addition, he enjoys the fitting of specialty contact lenses. Prior to joining River Valley Eye Professionals, Dr. Heilman practiced in Northampton, Massachusetts. He also served our country proudly as an officer in the United States Navy. He is an active member of the American Optometric Association and Minnesota Optometric Association. In his free time, Dr. Heilman enjoys spending time with his family, the occasional round of golf and regular workouts at the gym.
Nikita S. Katoozi, OD
Dr. Katoozi specializes in pediatrics and neuro-optometry. She received her Doctor of Optometry degree and a Masters of Education in Visual Function and Learning from Pacific University College of Optometry in Forest Grove, OR. She also completed a one-year residency in vision therapy, neuro-rehabilitation, and pediatrics where she provided eye care for special needs patient’s – including those with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Downs Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, traumatic brain injuries, and low vision. Dr. Katoozi has volunteered to provide eye care around the world with the Special Olympics, Lions Club Run/Walk for Sight, and VOSH international. In 2016 she was selected Student of the Year by the Optometric Physicians of Washington and was the winner of the “Optometrists Change Lives” Writing Competition. She has been involved in research and is a published author on the subjects of visual causes of reading dysfunction in children and myopia progression. In her free time, Dr. Katoozi can be found hiking, skiing, crafting, fishing, and baking. She is hoping to add a dog to her family soon.
Michelle J. Muench, MD
Northfield Eye Physicians and Surgeons (a division of Northfield Hospital)
Dr. Muench is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. She graduated from the University of Minnesota Medical School and completed her residency at the University of Texas-Southwestern. Dr. Muench is a native of Northfield; she is a graduate of Northfield High School and earned her undergraduate degree at Gustavus Adolphus College. Her eye practice includes cataract and lens implant surgery as well as eyelid surgery.
