Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT)

OCT is a non-invasive imaging technology that provides detailed cross-sectional images of the retina, the light-sensitive tissue at the back of your eye. OCT allows us to see the individual layers of the retina and measure its thickness, which is essential for diagnosing and monitoring conditions like macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and glaucoma.

arrow-down-right arrow-down-right Is the OCT procedure painful or uncomfortable?

No, the OCT is completely painless and non-invasive. You simply sit in front of the machine, and a beam of light scans your eye to create detailed images of your retina. The test is quick and doesn't require any contact with your eye.

arrow-down-right arrow-down-right How long does an OCT scan take?

An OCT scan takes only a few minutes to complete. There is no special preparation needed for the test. In most cases, your pupils do not need to be dilated, and you can return to your normal activities immediately after the scan.

Optos Optomap®

The Optos Optomap® is an imaging system that captures ultra-widefield images of the retina. Unlike traditional methods, the Optomap® can capture up to 200 degrees of the retina in a single image, providing a comprehensive view of your eye’s health. This technology allows us to detect and monitor retinal conditions such as retinal detachment, glaucoma, and age-related macular degeneration.

arrow-down-right arrow-down-right Is the Optomap® test uncomfortable or invasive?

No, the Optomap® procedure is completely non-invasive and painless. It involves simply looking into the Optomap® device while a low-intensity laser scans your eye to capture the image.

arrow-down-right arrow-down-right Do I still need my eyes dilated if I have an Optomap® scan?

In many cases, the Optomap® can provide a detailed view of your retina without the need for dilation. However, depending on your eye health needs, your eye doctor may still recommend dilation for a more comprehensive examination.

RETeval

The RETeval is an advanced diagnostic tool that assesses the function of the visual pathway from the retina to the brain. This system uses Light Induced Visual-response (LIV)™ tests to provide information about how well your visual system is working. Much like an electrocardiogram (EKG) tests heart function, the RETINA PLUS™ evaluates the health of the cells in your vision system. This technology is particularly useful in diagnosing and managing conditions like diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, and optic neuritis.

During the test, you will sit comfortably while the system sends light flashes to your eyes. These flashes trigger electrical signals in your visual system, which are then recorded by the device. The results show how well the cells in your retina and visual pathways are functioning, helping your eye doctor detect any abnormalities or early signs of eye diseases. The test is non-invasive, painless, and usually takes just a few minutes to complete.

Humphrey Field Analyzer

The Humphrey Field Analyzer 3 is the gold standard for visual field testing, used to detect and monitor glaucoma and other neurological conditions. This device measures the entire scope of your vision, including peripheral vision, and can detect even subtle changes that may indicate disease progression. Regular visual field testing with the Humphrey Field Analyzer 3 helps us track the effectiveness of your treatment and make adjustments as needed.

arrow-down-right arrow-down-right How does the Humphrey Field Analyzer 3 work?

During the test, you’ll be seated in front of the machine and asked to focus on a central point. Lights will flash in different areas of your vision, and you'll press a button each time you see one. The machine then maps your field of vision, helping your eye doctor detect any blind spots or changes. The test is non-invasive and usually takes about 10-20 minutes to complete.
